Thrift Store Scores!

Dave and I went to Unique Thrift Store today -- if you live in Chicago, you need to go!  Yes, it's in what some people would call a "sketchy neighborhood" (Uptown), but I used to live on the worst block there, and I'm still alive, so...

They have 50% off everything on Mondays, but usually things are pretty picked over (unless you get there early, think 6am), so we went instead for the Earlybird Special, which is every Thursday until 1pm.  Not everything is 50% off like on a Monday, but select items are, and most others are 25% off.  I found a lot of cool stuff today, but these are three of my favorites:

J. Crew tote bag
I got this lil' honey for like $3, and I'm quite pleased with it.  It still had a tag on it (with the price torn off, of course), but similar bags from the J. Crew collection go for like $60, so this was a huge score!

Ah, yes, vintage cameras.  You never really know what you're getting until you put a roll of film through it, but for $3 and $4, it was worth the risk for me.

I'm pretty sure the Instamatic isn't going to work (it seems to be missing a spool? or something?), but it looks quite nice on my shelf next to my Diana F+ and my Polaroid Land Camera.

I put a roll of film through the Yashica, and despite a little problem winding the film back up, it seems to be in working order.  I'm putting another roll through it now, and after I develop those, we'll see what I've got.  You may or may not see the Yashica listed on Etsy in the near future, depending on how much I start to love it.

I hope everyone is having a nice Thursday, looking forward to the most promising of all weekdays tomorrow.  I'm going back to full-time (more or less) work on March 12th, so I'm enjoying these last days that I have all to myself as much as I can.  I may or may not have been served breakfast in bed this morning, just sayin'...  :)

    1. Thanks for appreciating! I'm just about ready for the beach, now, haha... I just need the temperature to rise a little bit. ;)
