Home Office Dress Code

After eight months of being told what was work appropriate (khakis, button down shirts, boxy black shoes) and what wasn't (bright colors, anything fun, boots), I'll be setting my own work dress code now.

It looks a little something like this.

Chicken-themed necklaces are encouraged.

Oversized tshirts with fascinating photos -- yes!

Wear the most ridiculous, attention grabbing pants you can find.  Also, they can be as skinny as they want to be, because I said so.

Cold?  Throw on a bright orange hoodie that doesn't match anything you're wearing.

Cowboy boots are not only welcomed, they're encouraged!
The more attention it draws to myself, the more bright and patterned and fun it is, and the less it matches anything else I'm wearing, the better!

I like making the rules.  :)

2012 Chicago Cubs Season

Well, it's the new year, Cubs Convention is over, so I guess it's time to get ready for work (& baseball) again!  Quite timely that I saw this on LovelyUndergrad -- although I'm a bit older, & it's jobs now instead of internships, the idea is still the same when you're trying to build a career & look good while doing it.  I say every season that this will be the year I bring at least a little bit of style to the job... but then the crazy-cold into crazy-hot temperatures, running back & forth from warehouse to ballpark, & general craziness-can't-even-sit-down-for-lunch takes over, & I get stuck in a rut.  Well, like all Cubs fans say... "this is they year"!  :)

I love these shoes!  I kind of feel like I should buy that second pair now, because they are going to get a lot of use this Spring and Summer!

What I'm looking forward to... Yelp Holiday Party

If you're not yet a member of Yelp, you should totally start today.  Not only is it fun to write reviews about businesses you love (and hate), but they throw really fun parties, too!

Tonight is the holiday party at the Chicago History Museum, and even though I'm feeling under the weather, I will force myself to brave the cold in a short skirt and thick tights, because the Yelp parties are always totally worth it.

Oh, and at the museum there's the Costume and Textile Gallery...
