What I'm Eating... Third Week of May

Work lunches remain mostly uninteresting... it's so difficult to be creative when I work just a few steps from Wrigleyville Dogs!

How funny is the bag my fries came in?

I love these Dr. McDougall's soups!  My favorite is the Split Pea soup.

I made salt & pepper tofu, but it wasn't as crispy as I like it -- probably because I couldn't find my favorite Chicago-made tofu at the Asian market, and ended up buying some mainstream brand that was a little mushy for my taste.

This put me on a little bit of a tofu kick, and the next night I made it with yellow curry sauce.

It made for great leftovers when I added steamed broccoli!

All of the cold, rainy weather put me in the mood for a chai latte, and when I saw this gorgeous little whoopie pie, I couldn't resist!

The curry trend continued, with curry chicken & yoghurt over rice, and mushrooms sauteed with butter.

My 'fella made me a wonderful breakfast one morning -- eggs, bacon, and pancakes with molasses.

Yesterday my 'fella and I went on a Groupon-ing adventure ($1 Groupons!).  We hit 7-11 first, so he could pick up snacks and a Vitamin Water for me.  Then it was off to Ian's Pizza, which pretty much blew my mind -- mac & cheese pizza!!

Then we went to Yogen Fruz, yum!!

Then it was even MORE pizza at La Gondola, most of which we took home for leftovers.

What I Ate... Fourth Week of March

Breakfasts:

Mmm... the most important meal of the day?

Mine usually consists of strong black coffee

or Green Machine

cereal, and cigarettes.

Yup, I said it.

Lunches have been mostly uneventful leftovers, most of which I ate before I remembered to take pictures.  Chicken breasts, then chicken soup; macaroni & cheese with Polish sausage.  One day, I forgot my lunch, and treated myself to Chicken Tortilla Soup from Azteco de Oro (next door to my office).

Dinner has been frozen pizza (seriously), chicken breasts with sauteed spinach, more kofta curry meatballs (my favorite!!),

and I think one night we went out for Mexican?

Anyway, I think (hope) this week will be better.  Opening Day is Friday April 1st, so there's no telling HOW busy (and subsequently lazy, after work) I will be.

What I'm Eating... Meat Balls in Spicy Curry

These boxes of seasoning only cost 99-cents at the corner store, and they make for yummy, interesting meals!  Its fun to try something new, to follow a recipe that I'm completely unfamiliar with, and then to discover that I love it!

Last night, we tried meat balls in spicy curry.

It was so delicious, spicy and warm.  My 'fella doesn't like yogurt (he doesn't realize that it already had some cooked in), so he passed on the extra dollop on top, but I didn't!  Yum yum yum, I can't wait to make this again.

Served over rice, with a dollop of yogurt, and a sprinkling of chopped cilantro.
